Purpose of Position
The Senior Civil Designer is responsible for providing accurate and efficient design, drawing, estimation and inspectorial services under the direction of the Project Manager
Responsibilities
- Provide technical input to the project as required by the Project Manager;
- Provide design and/or drafting services to development projects for public and private clients, including roads, highways and carparks, stormwater drainage, water and sewerage reticulation, and erosion and sediment control;
- Provide on-site inspection services for projects, to ensure construction in compliance with design;
- Carry out tasks using appropriate technical standards for the works, including Australian Standards and Local Authority Standards;
- Provide technical input within budgeted times and costs as agreed with the Project Manager;
- Complete administrative tasks for the project as required, such as the completion of timesheets for calculation of fee accounts;
- Contribute to ensuring the effective performance of the design office, including commitment to training, designer development, drawing standards, knowledge development and office maintenance.
- Comply with the quality system requirements of the office and projects completed by the company, to ensure an effective Quality Assurance system.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of current versions of AutoCAD;
- Ability to control design using 12D Model, or other applicable engineering modelling software;
- Basic knowledge of other engineering software, including PC-Drain, Microsoft Project;
- Experience in use of Miscrosoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Access;
- Ability to learn new software within the civil engineering discipline;
- High standard of grammar and punctuation skills and a good grasp of the English language;
- Ability to organise personal workload;
- Ability to make decisions and use initiative when preparing documentation and dealing with responsibilities;
- Ability to ensure the presentation of company documents is to a consistent and professional standard;
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines;
- Establish and maintain harmonious professional working relationships with superiors, co-workers, clients and suppliers;
- Professionally presented.
