Purpose of Position
The Senior Civil Engineer is responsible for developing and servicing Clients as a Project Manager for civil engineering projects, under the direction of the Manager.
Responsibilities
- Project Manage civil projects for client base, and ensure quality of work;
- Develop new clients via participation in the company marketing plan, and developing contact network;
- Use appropriate skills to ensure successful completion of civil engineering projects within the company;
- Monitor the financial performance of the allocated projects, and complete monthly reports to the Manager on this performance;
- Participate in office management issues, including resourcing and workload issues, and general office management issues;
- Develop solutions to resourcing issues, including recommendation of new staff;
- Carry out supervision and review of civil staff as required, and program staff development and training, whether formal or informal;
- Complete administrative tasks for the project as required, including the preparation of fee accounts;
- Perform various other duties from time to time in relation to a project as defined by the Manager;
- Comply with the quality system requirements of the office and projects completed by the company, to ensure an effective Quality Assurance system.
Skills Required
- Degree in Civil Engineering, with a minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in the civil engineering design;
- Ability to undertake civil engineering design using applicable engineering modelling software;
- Ability to use other engineering software, including Microsoft Project;
- Experience in use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Access;
- High standard of grammar and punctuation skills and a good grasp of the English language;
- Ability to organise personal workload;
- Ability to make decisions and use initiative when preparing documentation and dealing with responsibilities;
- Ability to ensure the presentation of company documents is to a consistent and professional standard;
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines;
- Establish and maintain harmonious professional working relationships with superiors, co-workers, clients and suppliers;
- Professionally presented.
